About Us

The Tribal Workers Charitable Foundation, or TWCF, is a South Dakota non-profit corporation and tax exempt organization under section 501(c)(3). Our goal is to empower communities by providing direct relief to those in need through educational scholarships. Since 2018, the Tribal Workers Charitable Foundation has distributed over $500,000 in scholarship grants to qualified Native American students. The majority of the student population will remain on or return to their respective reservations following the completion of their education to help break the cycle of poverty and unemployment that has limited tribal people since the nineteenth century. The TWCF scholarship program is confirmation that education is the key, one student at a time.

How It Works

The TWCF administers a scholarship program for Native American students seeking a post secondary education. These tribal students include those attending the tribal colleges of the Lakota tribes of South and North Dakota

Origin

The TWCF was founded by its sister nonprofit, the Tribal Workers Compensation Corporation, or TWCC, with a $1 million endowment. Pursuant to the bylaws of the TWCF, only the investment income earned from the endowment can be distributed for charitable giving.

Financial Stability

The TWCF is governed by a Board of Directors. Banking is provided by First Dakota National Bank of Sioux Falls, SD. Investments are managed by Raymond James. CPA services are provided by the Woltman Group.
